In a tradition dating back to the 1800s, Groundhog Day is celebrated each Feb. 2 in Punxsutawney, Pa. According to folklore, if the groundhog emerges in the early morning and sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of wintry weather. If he does not see his shadow, there will be an early spring.
Americans across the United States will be watching the most famous of groundhogs, Punxsutawney Phil, as he predicts the fate of winter weather. Seattle’s Best Coffee aims to ease the shiver of six more weeks of winter by offering free coffee to a lucky few if Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow.
Winter weather watchers can cast their prediction as to whether or not Punxsutawney Phil will indeed see his shadow and also enter for a chance to win a free cup of coffee by registering on Facebook. To join in on the festivities, visit the Seattle’s Best Coffee’s Facebook page and cast your vote. If the groundhog does see his shadow, those who register, Jan. 28 through Feb.1, will be eligible to win one of 10,000 free samples of coffee.
