Is is going to be 6 more weeks of winter, or an early spring? On Saturday, February 2nd, Woody, a resident of the Howell Nature Center, and Michigan's official groundhog will make her 16th prediction. She has right many more times than she has been wrong. Last year she predicted an early spring, and much of the Midwest had 80 degree temperatures for several days in March. The festivities will begin at the Howell Nature Center on Triangle Lake Road at 7:45 a.m. Woody will make her prediction at 8:15 a.m., rain, snow, or shine. This event is free, and open to the public.
There will be a crazy outfit contest for kids held during the festivities. The winner will win a free week of summer camp at the Nature Center.
If after the prediction, you find that you are hungry, there will be a pancake breakfast served at 9:00 a.m. Cost of the breakfast is $8 for adults, $6 for kids, and under 2 for free. Reservations for the breakfast can be made by calling 517-546-0249.
