Groundhog Day 2013 may be getting a bit “overshadowed” by all the Super Bowl XLVII hype, but if you want to know if winter is staying around for six weeks longer or coming to an early end, you had better take time out and listen to the only one who knows the answer, Punxsutawney Phil.
The lovable little groundhog will once again be making his fearless weather prediction this Saturday, Feb. 2 at approximately 7:25 a.m. from Gobbler's Knob and according to a report by on Jan. 31 by the post-gazette, fans cannot wait!
This year will be the 127th time that Groundhog Day will be celebrated in Punxsutawney, PA. and with it falling on a Saturday it may set a record in attendance.
The lure and interest in Groundhog Day seems to grow every year. Of course besides all the food, festivities and fun, the big question everyone will want answered is will Phil predict six more weeks of winter, or will we have an early spring?
Last year Phil saw his shadow, meaning that six more weeks of winter were in store. After the cold blast most of the U.S. has been experiencing in the last five weeks, people are keeping their fingers crossed, hoping Phil will not see his shadow tomorrow morning and we will have an early spring.
