Grisly new photos released of man who dismembered mom, including ‘trophy’ pic (Photos)

Seeing is believing. And for those skeptical of reports that a clearly unhinged New York man took a snapshot of himself holding aloft his mother’s severed head after killing her and hacking her to pieces, a copy of the photo was leaked on Saturday. The image, which surfaced at The New York Post, is reproduced here.

For those squeamish about peeking, the bloody head has been redacted, but the photo is chilling nonetheless. In it, the 23-year-old McLean appears wearing a triumphal smile, clad in a white tank top and bandanna.

According to the latest information made available by the NYPD, McLean killed 45-year-old Tanya Byrd in the Morrisania apartment they shared and then sliced up her body with a power saw. Before depositing the remains around the neighborhood, he snapped the “keepsake” image of himself and Byrd’s head while standing in front of a bathroom mirror.

One of the new images released based on court documents is an overhead Google street map of the area of the Bronx, highlighting where different parts of the corpse were retrieved. Another overhead shot reveals the final resting place McLean chose for his mother’s right leg, amid a pile of trash on Eagle Avenue.
