Grimm's A Long Way From Mississippi

Michael Grimm’s soulful Southern blue tunes have struck a chord with Las Vegas music lovers who are looking for an alternative to gymnasts, magicians and Elvis tribute artists. From the looks of the crowd Wednesday night at the M Resort, Grimm has captured the interest of many who have seen him as an America’s Got Talent  semi-finalist as well.

Playing to a standing room only crowd, Grimm engaged the audience with a mixture of originals, covers and down home Louisiana Delta fun. Backed up by B Soul (from Grimm’s original Delta Bound band) and Nikki Logan on vocals, Grimm produced a performance worthy of a reality show winner and Las Vegas featured entertainer.

I first saw Michael a couple of year’s ago at the now defunct Louis’ Fish Camp in Towne Center after he had relocated from Mississippi to Vegas. Crunched into a corner of the noisy restaurant, Grimm did his best to add a bit of Cajun ambiance to the night. To see him now with a five-piece band and backup signers was a treat. His music, while still having the flavor of the Gulf Coast, is more polished than I’ve ever seen it.

Grimm will be in town for the next few days, so you should check out his schedule. Who knows, I may even go again before he leaves town and the results are in for AGT. If he wins, he’s going to have to get a bigger venue.
