This week The Community YMCA (the Y) announced that a “Grillin’ & Chillin’ for Kids” benefit will be held on Saturday, October 5 at Camp Arrowhead in Marlboro. The annual benefit, which is featuring Tim McLoone & The Shirleys, will support the Y’s charitable mission to provide free and reduced program and membership fees to local children and families in need.
The following local individuals and organizations will be recognized by the Y for having made a positive impact in Monmouth County: Big Joe Henry of New Jersey 101.5 FM radio – Distinguished Citizen Service Award; The Junior League of Monmouth County – Community Partner Award; Foundation to Save the Jersey Shore Founders, Warren Diamond, Phil Villapiano and Kevin Leahy- Hero Award, and Monmouth County Police Chiefs Association – Hero Award.
The event begins at 5 p.m. with a cocktail reception in the Carr Pavilion. Guests will savor a gourmet barbeque catered by Merri-Makers and dancing under the Sunfield Pavilion. Following dinner, guests can enjoy grilling s’mores around the campfire. Highlights of the evening will include silent and live auctions and a 50/50 cash raffle.
Proceeds from the benefit will help the Y ensure that everyone – regardless of age, income or background - has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive through Y programs such as afterschool care, youth sports, health and wellness, swim lessons, summer camp, teen leadership and counseling and social services.
The Community YMCA serves more than 20,000 residents in greater Monmouth County through programs such as: preschool, before and after school care, health and wellness, leadership, arts enrichment, personal and family counseling and summer day camp.
