Recently, Meijer started carrying the most delicious thing this Examiner has ever put between two slices of bread--Dark Chocolate Dreams peanut butter by Peanut Butter & Co. This chocolate-y peanut butter is like Nutella for people who don't like hazelnuts, and it's fantastic on just about anything. But you know what's better than chocolate? Melted chocolate.
That's where this very simple recipe comes in--it's a grilled PB&J sandwich that takes all the wonderful things about chocolate and fruit mixed together and puts them between bread. It's perfect for a quick lunch or dinner since it takes almost no time at all. Naturally, you can make this with just about any kind of peanut butter, bread, and jam, but here's one delicious take.
- 2 slices whole wheat sandwich bread
- 1 tbsp Peanut Butter Dreams (you can use more, but it tends to get everywhere when its melty)
- 1 tbsp strawberry jam
- 2 tsp butter/margarine spread
Spread peanut butter on one side of a slice of bread.Spread jam on the other slice, put them together, and spread butter on the outsides of both sides of the bread.
Place sandwich in a panini press, George Foreman grill, or on a preheated skillet. Cook as you would any other grilled sandwich, flipping halfway through if you're using a skillet.
Let it cool a bit before you take a bite, and have a napkin nearby, because the chocolate is melty and delicious, but very, very messy. Enjoy!
