Flint area ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ fans are debating the future of some of the show’s favorite couples after the January 12th all-new episode, ‘This Magic Moment’. Some couples like Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) and Bailey (Chandra Wilson) and Ben (Jason George) take steps forward. But Lexie (Chyler Leigh) seems stuck on Mark (Eric Dane) and at this point, he’s with Julia (Holley Fain) and really likes her. Vicki Rodabaugh of Flint has watched ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ from its inception and is rooting for a LexMark reunion. She said:
‘Lexie and Mark are just good together. They balance each other out. I can’t believe Mark is truly over her. Julia is clearly rebound, and you know those kinds of relationships never really last. At least I hope this one doesn’t.’
This episode centers around a pair of conjoined twins who are separated in a groundbreaking surgery which finds the docs segmented into dedicated procedural teams. Lexie serves as a liaison to the twins’ parents, who are very much in love. Mark takes a poll in the OR to see who likes Julia, and Lexie opts to leave to give the babies’ parents an update. The two parents are young and really love each other. When the father asks Lexie if there’s a bar nearby, the mother assumes Lexie is judging them. Lexie replies:
‘I wasn’t judging you, really. I was thinking how lucky you are to be with somebody you love.’
Later Lexie watches on awkwardly as they share a very heated kiss. Then, near the end of the episode, Lexie passes by Mark and he says, ‘God I wish you could have been in there with me today.’
She backs up and hears him say, ‘Really? Me too.’ He looks up startled, with his cell phone earpiece in, as he’s talking to Julia. Lexie is embarrassed about her mistake and tries to play it off as ‘hearing things, long day’. Marks expression is hard to read. Is it slightly wistful? Or, is he merely embarrassed?
A January 12th EOnline article reports that GA Creator Shonda Rhimes hasn’t pinpointed the future of any certain couple. She said:
‘Who should end up with who is not the question for me. It's where they are going to end up as individuals that is more interesting to me than who should end up with who. I'm not really about that anymore.’
She did disclose in another EOnline interview that Meredith and Derek will get to experience joy and it will last a while. Rhimes did not offer the fates of Lexie and Mark, or Cristina (Sandra Oh) and Owen (Kevin McKidd), who appear to have a huge argument during next week’s preview clip.
Kathleen A. of Flint has been a big fan of LexMark, but ultimately has another choice for Lexie. She said:
‘I liked Lexie and Mark together. But I think she and Alex should get together. They’ve already slept together, and they both have been sort of tortured and unlucky in love. Alex needs someone amazing and I think Lexie would be perfect.’
Lexie and Alex would be an interesting choice, but it’s clear she’s really hung up on Mark. Plus, Avery bowed out of the picture because of her clear feelings for his boss/mentor. It’s not likely they will get back together…
Mark declared his love for Lexie long ago. Will Julia prove to be a rebound, and will Mark realize that he still loves Lexie too?
What do you think? Should Mark and Lexie get back together? I’d love to read your comments below.
‘Grey’s Anatomy’ airs in Flint on WJRT ABC12 Thursdays at 10 PM EST.
