Fans of "Grey's Anatomy" still have two episodes of season 10 left to see, but season 11 is slowly starting to take shape. ABC has not officially renewed any of their line-up next fall, but they already voiced strong support for this medical drama earlier this year. It is clear "Grey's Anatomy" is not going anywhere. The signing of new contracts for next season make that a lock. All ABC needs to do is make it official. On May 3, Enstarz reported that four more cast members had signed on for next season.
Who are these four cast members? James Pickens Jr., Chandra Wilson, Sara Ramirez and Justin Chambers are all returning for season 11. Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey had already signed contracts earlier this year. This means the remaining original cast members are all returning. Sara Ramirez joined the series in season two. Some fans were worried that Chambers would exit the series with Alex Karev going into private practice, but that is not the case.
Shonda Rhimes has already revealed that next season will focus more on Callie and Arizona's relationship. They will try to have a second child, but Callie will have a huge reveal coming up on this week's episode that could change that. Season 11 will still focus on the couple though. Alex will continue on with his new job, and his relationship with Jo will connect him to the hospital.
As for Meredith and Derek, it is possible they will need to deal with Amelia being a more permanent fixture in their lives. Caterina Scorsone has teased that Amelia would consider staying in Seattle to TV Guide. She is missing having family around, so it is possible Derek and Meredith being near could lead her to stay. Scorsone also revealed that she would be willing to stay on the show if Shonda Rhimes asked her to in a previous interview.
The intern picture would look different next year. With Leah and Shane on their way out, it is possibly new residents would come in. At least one of the younger staff will be asked to leave. That was revealed on this week's episode. The fate of the second intern has not yet been revealed. With Yang leaving, it is possible she could take Shane with her. She was mentoring him after all. She could make a spot for him at her new hospital.
Fans will need to tune in to find out what happens to end season 10. It will impact the season 11 picture even more. "Grey's Anatomy" will continue to air on ABC on Thursday nights.
