It’s a dream come true for actress and die-hard soap fan, Chandra Wilson. The star of “Grey’s Anatomy” is excited to have a guest spot on ABC’s “General Hospital” next month, as reported exclusively to ABC Soaps in Depth on Dec. 17. However, fans will have to wait a bit to see how this all plays out.
While it is not definite whether this will be a crossover between the two shows or something completely different, Wilson says that the world of soaps is something that she has been a part of for a very long time. The 44-year-old actress has portrayed the role of Dr. Miranda Bailey since 2005 as one of the original cast members. She admits to loving her favorite soap opera for years.
"I've watched GH for 35 years," she dished to the magazine. "I grew up with it. It holds such a place in my heart. Even though we've shared the same lot for 10 years I can't talk to anybody on the lot... it's weird to see them because they're supposed to be in Port Charles! I have that kind of fan disconnect."
The only thing that is known for sure about her role on the soap is that she will be a patient of Dr. Kevin Collins, a psychiatrist on the show. Maybe her character will head to Port Charles to seek the professional help of the doc after an incident over at Grey Sloan Memorial? Or it could be totally unrelated to her character in “Grey’s Anatomy.”
“GH” cast member Roger Howarth (Franco) was said to have been visiting the “Grey’s” set and right after that, Wilson got the invite from executive producer Frank Valentini, but she still doesn’t know how it all came about. Supposedly, they were contemplating this set-up for a while.
Stay tuned to find out what character Chandra Wilson will be playing on “General Hospital.” The episode is set to air on Jan. 28 on ABC.
