Sarah Chalke is set to appear on the March 28, and details of her appearance had been kept quiet until now. She will play the mother of an infant suffering from Kawasaki Disease. It is a difficult disease to diagnose, and her own infant son suffered from it two years ago. Chalke approached Shonda Rhimes and others involved with the series, and it was decided to cover the disease in an episode. Chalke was given the role of the mother at that time. The actress said the following about the experience:
"It was definitely a bit scary to tackle. I didn’t know what that experience was going to be like, to hold a baby who was made up to look like Charlie did at that time. It was probably the most challenging thing I’ve done, but it ended up being a really good experience. The thing that means so much to me … is raising awareness about [KD], so that it doesn’t go untreated [for other families]."
Chalke did film a PSA that will air at the end of the episode as well. Fans are buzzing about this series on social media. One fan said the following on Twitter recently:
Really excited for Sarah Chalke to guest star in #GreysAnatomy. Love her!
