Seattle Grace-Mercy West is up for sale, and it is no longer a trauma center. That will cause problems on this episode. Avery and Karev are in competition for the face of the hospital, and April will have a young patient that will not live if he is taken to the next closest trauma center that is a hour away. Williams said the following about the competition:
"Jackson and Alex have become drinking buddies and have started hanging out, and they find themselves in a competition for being the face of the hospital. I don't know that either of them really want it, they're just really competitive."
A sneak peek for the episode shows April calling Jackson about the boy, and the staff makes the decision to take him in while Hunt and Cahill are showing off the hospital to potential investors. Jackson does try to go Hunt and Cahill first, but they won't give their permission. Williams teased the following about Avery's actions:
"Jackson has to take a life in his own hands ... to treat this kid that comes in based on April's call. It is meaningful that it's April that called him and didn't call anyone else because she could trust he would keep it confidential, but also make a good decision. He puts himself and his job at risk in doing that."
Fans are buzzing about this series on social media. One fan said the following on Twitter recently:
