The "Grey's Anatomy" season winter finale left many of our favorite couples just kind of dangling in the breeze when it comes to the status of their relationships. On Dec. 31, International Business Times posted a roundup of relationship statuses that sums up nicely what we should be watching for when the show returns in February. Be advised there are spoilers ahead so stop here if you don’t want to read them.
Jackson Avery and April Kepner
The biggest question of the episode lies here with Jackson and April. After weeks of April trying to get Jackson to tell her not to marry Matthew, Jackson waits until halfway through the wedding to announce – in front of everyone – that he loves her. Then he asks her if she loves him too.
Given the long silence that followed, it is not likely Matthew will want to marry April seeing as she seemed unsure how to answer Jackson’s question. There is no doubt Stephanie will be done with Jackson no matter what April has to say. Some fans wonder if Jackson will simply step up and take Matthew’s place and let the wedding finish. We don’t think that’s very likely either. Possible…but not likely.
Meredith Grey and Derek Shepherd
Meredith and Derek were living the dream. Derek had agreed to take some time off to be Mr. Mom while Meredith got the chance to pursue her career for a bit. He seemed very content in his role as daddy until a phone call from the President of the United States came. How do you say no to the President? And more importantly, how do you tell your wife that you have to renege on your agreement?
Callie Torres and Arizona Robbins
This is arguably the most troubled couple in the history of the show. The thing that fans love about them is that they keep working to get over the obstacles. Though they are trying to work things out since Arizona’s affair, Arizona feels as if Callie doesn’t accept her for who she is, that Callie wants to somehow ‘fix’ her. This is going to cause problems unless these two have an open discussion for a change.
Jo Wilson and Alex Karev
In what was one of the most unexpected and equally sweetest moments of the episode, Alex sort of proposed to Jo and she sort of said yes. After dealing with his estranged father and watching how the man tore apart two families, Alex wants commitment from Jo that no matter what happens, "we'll-definitely-be-together-for-the-rest-of-our-lives" and that if they have kids, they will be the best parents they can be together. She agrees and he then tells her no one else needs to know for now. It was so sweet and unexpected. Finally, there may be happiness in store for Alex and Jo.
The spring premiere of “Grey's Anatomy” season 10 airs on Feb. 27. Until then, keep checking back here for more news, updates and spoilers as they become available.
