The news that James Remar was joining the season 10 cast of “Grey’s Anatomy” has been around for a while but who he is playing has been kept under wraps until now. Zap 2 It revealed in a Sept. 12 report that the “Dexter” actor will be playing the estranged father of one of the doctors.
During Paleyfest on Sept. 12, the webzine caught up with the actor as he strolled the red carpet for the series finale of “Dexter.” It was there he revealed that he will be more than just another in the long line of patients at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.
Here’s what Remar had to say about his stint on ABC’s hit series:
"I'm doing 'Grey's Anatomy' right now, and I play the father of one of the doctor's on the show, Justin Chambers' character [Alex Karev]. He's a guy that's had a very rough life, a lot of drugs. So it's not an easy reunion."
Karev had a rough life growing up and has made no secret of it. His disdain for the life he led is deeply ingrained so the reunion is not likely to be a happy one. Remar teased that he will start out as a patient. Where will it go from there and will Alex be able to form a bond with is long lost father? These are the story lines that make “Grey’s Anatomy” the show it is.
The two-hour premiere of season 10 of “Grey’s Anatomy” airs Thursday, Sept. 26 on ABC.
