There are only 3 episodes left of season 10 of “Grey's Anatomy” and then we will bid farewell to Sandra Oh and the character she plays, Cristina Yang. As if that weren’t enough drama, there is now information which TV Fanatic shared on April 28 about what the season finale will deal with. In the past, showrunner Shonda Rhimes has delivered a crazy gunman and a plane crash. This year will be something else altogether. There are Season 10 finale spoilers ahead so don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Just how Cristina Yang will be written out of the show has practically been kept a national secret. When Oh first announced her departure, she told the Hollywood Reporter she wanted her last appearance on the series to be a celebration. After ten years in the role, she wanted her character to have a happy ending in a way that was fitting for Cristina.
"I want us to get to that point where we see this character ride off into the sunset … Playing Cristina and growing her and growing myself in her, I want to usher her into the next section of her life in the best way possible. It's got to be Cristina Yang's happily-ever-after,” she explained.
As for the rest of the episode, ABC has released some promotional photos from "Fear (of the Unknown)", however, that give us a peek at what is going on elsewhere in the episode. The photos show an angry looking Owen Hunt, along with guest star Rick Worthy. There are other photos that show the hospital overrun with patients and in some chaos. This could be in reaction to the “possible act of terrorism” we’ve been hearing about. Here’s the synopsis as reported by International Business Times:
“In the Season 10 finale, the doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital bid an emotional farewell to the beloved Cristina Yang. But it’s not just Cristina’s departure that stirs up the emotions within the walls of Grey Sloan. A “possible act of terrorism” will rock Seattle and “cause chaos at the hospital.” Talk about going out with a bang. “Meanwhile, Meredith makes a life changing decision and one doctor receives shocking news, on ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’”
“Grey’s Anatomy” will return Thursday, May 1 at 8 p.m. on ABC with "We Are Never Getting Back Together," and the return of Dr. Preston Burke. The finale, “Fear (of the Unknown)” will air on May 15.
