The "Grey's Anatomy" interns are getting their own webisode series beginning tonight after the most recent episode of the medical drama.
The first of six four to five minute episodes, which are titled "Seattle Grace: On Call," will be available on ABC's 'Grey's Anatomy' website at 10:00 p.m. EST on November 19, 2009.
"Our goal with the web series is to expand the 'Grey's' universe by offering a unique perspective of the various happenings at Seattle Grace, while paralleling some of the same storylines seen on the show," "Grey's Anatomy" creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes said in ABC's press release.
It doesn't sound like any of the show's lead characters will make an appearance on the show, but you will see familiar faces - the interns. Steve (Mark Saul), Megan (Molly Kidder), Pierce (Joseph Williamson), Graciella (Gloria Garayua) and Ryan (Brandon Scott) will be the main focus of "Seattle Grace: On Call," along with Joe, owner of Joe's Emerald City Bar, (Steven Bailey), Reed (Nora Zehtener) and Charles (Robert Baker).
We know so little about these characters and don't really get the chance to learn about their lives outside of the hospital on "Grey's Anatomy," so I think this will be a nice addition for "Grey's" fans. It will be a nice way to round out the addition of so many new people this season. They should really think about doing something like this with the Mercy West doctors. I mean, they have to have back stories, and a websiode series might be the best way to tell those stories without interrupting the stories of the lead characters. Just something to think about ABC!
