Paul James perhaps best known from his time on “Greek,” has just joined the cast of “Grey’s Anatomy.” According to a Jan. 25 post on Zap-2-It, James will play a research assistant in the medical series.

On “Greek”, James played an openly gay student and the openly gay president of the Omega Chi fraternity. His new role as a research assistant at Grey Sloane Memorial Hospital is said to be a potentially recurring one.

The news of James’ addition to the cast comes close on the heels of the casting news that both Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey have signed for 2 more years with the show. ABC has not as yet renewed the show beyond season 10 but ABC president Paul Lee has stated that the show has many more years left in it.

Sandra Oh declared her intentions last year to leave the show after season 10 ends. There are still other ‘originals’ who have yet to say whether or not they are staying. Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson and James Pickens, Jr.’s contract statuses have not yet been revealed.
