Red players can have a hard time destroying creatures. Sure, we can throw fire at them: Burn, Magma Jet, Lightning Strike, and Mizzium Mortars are all viable early game answers, however larger threats are much tougher for us to deal with. Red mages generally turn to other colors such as black for Dreadbore or Hero's Downfall. Grenzo's Rebuttal from Wizards of the Coast's upcoming expert Magic: The Gathering expert expansion set Conspiracy can destroy creatures without relying on another color, however it'll come with a price.

Grenzo's Rebuttal - 4RR
Sorcery (Rare)
Put a 4/4 red Ogre creature token onto the battlefield. Starting with you, each player chooses an artifact, a creature, and a land from among the permanents controlled by the player to his or her left. Destroy each permanent chosen this way.

For six mana Grenzo's Rebuttal allows you to destroy an artifact, creature, or land your opponent controls. Now, chances are your rival's going to knock out your biggest threat, however the 4/4 red Ogre Grenzo's Rebuttal creates ensures you're still up on card advantage. And because you follow Grenzo's Rebuttal's text in order, hypothetically if you control no interesting artifacts of lands for your adversary to target they'll likely target your new Ogre. In this scenario, Grenzo's Rebuttal reads "destroy target creature" for six mana. These situations probably won't be too common, and it's in multiplayer games where Grenzo's Rebuttal can truly shine.

Grenzo's Rebuttal cares about seating placement, so keep this in mind when you choose where to sit. If you have a friend or ally on your right, they'll help you by ensuring the target they choose is something you couldn't care less about. Meanwhile, Grenzo's Rebuttal will reek a little devastation amongst your opponents, and scales bigger with the number of players in the game. Destroying the "best" cards all your enemies control is certainly worth six mana in our book, making Grenzo's Rebuttal a fantastic casual card for Commander players to abuse.

How will you use Grenzo's Rebuttal?
