He's played in 82 total NBA games since being drafted first overall by the Trail Blazers in 2007. And, on Friday, it was announced that center Greg Oden would undergo yet another knee surgery, his fourth since entering the league.
He was expected to get playing time this year before he suffered a setback prior to the start of the season. There's a good chance the surgery will ensure that Oden does not step foot on the court this year.
"That would be speculation at this point,'' interim GM Chad Buchanan said. "We are going to continue to stand by and support Greg and listen to what the doctors have to say after the surgery.''
The surgery will be conducted in order to remove debris from his right knee, which hasn't given Oden problems since 2007. This will mean he would have had two surgeries on each of his knees since Portland drafted him ahead of Kevin Durant five years ago.
