"The Hack Attack" Greg Hackney Gonzales, Louisiana has fished nine years at the Bassmaster Classic, hometown favorite, waves the Louisiana banner high, these waters are where he played growing up fishing. Does Hackney have the hometown advantage?
In the 2003 Bassmaster Classic, Hackney, now ranked 27th in the world of fishing, drove his boat 128 miles one way from the boat ramp to Venice, the honey hole he thought would give him the haul he needed to win the Classic, giving himself barely four hours of fishing time. Mike Iaconelli Runnymede New Jersey ended up winning by fishing 20 miles from Hackney.
"I've fished long enough to know you can't second guess yourself, these tournaments are how I take care of my family. They are my bread and butter. I know better than to second guess myself."
Hackney holds the heaviest day weigh-in weight at FLW Outdoors 39-12 and was the 2009 Forrest Wood Cup Champion, he grabbed the Angler of the Year title in 2005.
"Fishing at Bassmaster Classic is about fishing big, heavyweight bass that will beat the competition."
