A young woman is recovering after an assault, and the man responsible charged after a January 17 incident, Fox Carolina reported January 24.
Hunter Garrett Coker, 21, was charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct from an assault which allegedly took place at an ATO fraternity party earlier this month. According to a police report, the victim became separated from her friends. Coker approached the young woman and offered to bring them to her.
According to the incident report, Coker begged to see the young woman's breast, and sexually assaulted her when she denied his request. The victim completed a sexual assault evidence collection kit while at Self Regional Healthcare.
§ 16-3-653. Criminal sexual conduct in the second degree is described as
(1) A person is guilty of criminal sexual conduct in the second degree if the actor uses aggravated coercion to accomplish sexual battery.
(2) Criminal sexual conduct in the second degree is a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than twenty years according to the discretion of the court.
This latest sexual assault should remind young women to protect themselves at college get-togethers.
