Gospel Explosion 2013, A Benefit concert for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas will Host National recording and Stellar Award winning artist Jonathan Nelson in concert along with the 2013 Gospel Explosion choir on Sunday March 17, 2013, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, 290 Springdale Drive, Simpsonville, SC 29681. Doors will open at 4:30pm. Poplar Spring Spiritual Ensemble will render Praise and Worship.
Nelson has penned several hit songs including Donald Lawrence's "Healed," for which he won a Stellar Award for Songwriter of the Year in 2006. One of Nelson's biggest songs to date is Youth For Christ's congregational ballad, "The Struggle Is Over," which spent 12 weeks at #1 on Billboard magazine's Hot Gospel Songs chart.
Nelson's most successful CD project to date is his second recording and debut project with a major label. The award-winning and critically-acclaimed Right Now Praise (Integrity Music) garnered three Stellar Awards and received a recording breaking eight Stellar Award nominations in 2008. In 2008, Nelson received more Stellar nominations than any other artist in gospel music. Several months later, he received two GMA Dove nominations for Best New Artist of the Year and Contemporary Gospel Song of the Year for the hit song, "My Name Is Victory," which spent 65 weeks on Billboard's Hot Gospel Songs chart and the single was cited as the Most Singable Song of the Year by Gospel Today magazine (2008).
This year, Gospel Explosion has partnered with NJ Productions, Poplar Spring Baptist Church, Warmer Productions, and Mychal’s Hair Studio in their efforts to assist The Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas in their endeavors to continue their mission of providing “a home away from home” for children and their families during a medical crisis.
