National Pit Bull Awareness Day is October 26, when dogs and their human companions plan to educate the Greenville public about the pit bull breeds.
Greenville Bully Walk presents HOWL-o-ween Stroll, an event where the dogs will hit downtown Greenville. Dog owners are urged to bring their dogs in Halloween costume.
Anyone wanting to participate is asked to meet at 11 a.m. at the top of Falls Park at the intersection of South Main Street and Camperdown Street. The group will walk up one side of the street to the Hyatt Regency and then back down the other side. Dog owners are encouraged to talk to people about their dogs and ask them to pet them.
After the walk an informal meal is planned at Fords Oyster House, which offers a dog-friendly patio.
The Greenville Bully Walk was founded by Jasmine Weaver of Jazzy Pit Bulls Kennel and Rescue as a means of promoting breed equality and responsible "bully" ownership.
The Greenville Bully Walk and it's corresponding events are great fun for all dog owners, where they strive to educate the community about responsible dog ownership and breed equality. They organize public events such as "Hot Dawg Day" and "The PITnic" as well as quarterly Bully Walk's as a means of promoting awareness and reaching out to the community.
For more information, or to invite yourself and your four-legged friend to the event, see their Facebook page.
The weather is predicted to be great, with temperatures near 60 degrees.
