An adorable little brown pit bull blend puppy is recuperating at the Greenville Animal Control in North Carolina after Tuesday's raid of a home on Kristin Drive for suspected gang and drug activity reported wcti12.com.

Delanta McGregory, 44, David Howard, 19, and Aaron Hatcher, 24, were arrested and face numerous drug, firearms and animal cruelty charges after Greenville Police Department officers, acting on complaints from neighbors, found crack cocaine, marijuana, and loaded firearms in the residence.

Howard faces charges of felony animal abuse. The dog's ears had been cut off, and her head had been wrapped with gauze and duct tape. Dog fighting culprits frequently cut off the ears off of dogs in training to fight so other dogs can't grab their ears. When the dog is too friendly or meek and refuses to fight, the animals are then used as bait dogs.

Dog fighting is a reprehensible crime, and it appears one more dog has been saved from a most despicable fate thanks to the help of the Greenville Police Department.

The good news is the sweet dog is expected to make a full recovery.
