Examiner.com asked Msgr. Anthony J. Marcaccio how he would describe St. Pius to a seeker or to a person new to Greensboro looking for a church home. He suggested the Mission and Vision statements as the best place to start learning about St. Pius.
Vision of Saint Pius X Parish
The people of St. Pius X Catholic Church are an open and hospitable community of Catholic Christian believers. We reach out to all, welcoming those in search of a home, seeking those in need, and embracing both stranger and friend as members of Christ’s body.
We are a family whose center is the Eucharist we celebrate together, giving joyful thanks and praise for the abundant gifts that are ours to share.
Our compassionate and energetic Pastors call us to reflection and prayer, and challenge us to use our gifts in support of each other and in service to those in the wider world around us.
We find our strength in the gifts and talents all our members actively contribute to the life of the community. We expect and encourage each other’s participation in the life of our parish.
Rooted in our rich Catholic tradition of sacramental celebration, prayer, Scripture study, education, and action for justice, we use our resources and live our lives in ways that build the Kingdom of God in our midst.
We recognize the depth and breadth of talent in our parish community and see our diversity as our strength. We acknowledge our responsibility to empower all parishioners to develop the means of sharing this wealth for the benefit of our families and community. We embrace Catholic traditions and teachings, with a desire to live our faith through liturgy, prayer, Christian formation and meaningful service to our community. We promise to carry out this Gospel vision with openness to one another’s views and opinions, in the spirit of teamwork and love, as we walk in the steps of the Lord.
