Greenpeace’s Santa commercial is enough to make any kid cry and it puts Santa in a mode of doom telling kids Christmas will be canceled. This Greenpeace Santa couldn’t have been any more on the gloomy side and while global warming is an important issue, kids enjoying the magic of Christmas is an important time in their lives, so why try and ruin that? In a Dec. 14 article, the SOP.com calls this a "wretched Greenpeace video," but they are being way too kind!
“Fox and Friends Weekend” live on Saturday, ran the Greenpeace commercial where Santa talks slowly and methodical as if he is beaten down by life. Apparently he is in fear of drowning and losing his home because he paints a picture of the North Pole melting. He goes onto say he probably can't do Christmas anymore due to global warming, as the Economic Times reports.
There’s nothing redeeming or jolly about the Santa from Greenpeace, he looks like a man that just got handed a death sentence. The tired and despondent looking Santa is played by “Downtown Abby’s” Jim Carter and as the Economic Times puts it, Santa “looks like he’s close to suffering a nervous breakdown.”
No rosy cheeks, no ho-ho-ho, or anything else that would relate to the Santa that kids have grown accustomed to. Just doom and sadness from this Santa as he tells the kids Christmas is a bust due to global warming.
This Santa names world leaders like Obama and Putin, who are on his naughty list. Santa’s home is suffering due to the melting ice at the North Pole, he conveys and these guys won't do anything about it. This Santa is filled with so much bad news that any kid that sees this who still believes in Saint Nick, is going to have nightmares about Santa drowning in his home at the North Pole! What was Greenpeace thinking releasing this commercial?
