The 23rd Annual Metropolitan Washington Tour Of Solar & Green Homes will take place on Oct 5 and 6 at over 50 homes in Bethesda, Silver Spring, Takoma, and other local areas. The hours on both days are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors may tour the homes and ask the owners about such matters as their experiences with solar panels. The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) seeks volunteers to man their booth at the Fell's Point Fun Festival in Baltimore on Oct. 5. Volunteers will work in shifts: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The booth will be on the waterfront. The Adkins Arboretum is holding a Sunrise Bio Blitz on Oct 6. The hours are 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Scientists, naturalists, and volunteers will explore designated areas within the Arboretum and document everything they find from fungi to large mammals. Participants should bring their digital camera or smartphone to record sightings. Scientists will help people identify species and post images on iNaturalist.
