When it comes to buying superfoods the selection can be overwhelming. We heard so much about pure, Green and San Francisco Bay Area based Navitas Naturals that we decided to examine them. This is what Founder and CEO, Zach Adelman has to share:
Q: What is your business mission?
A: Navitas is the latin word for energy. Navitas Naturals was founded in 2003 to bring energizing superfoods to North America to invigorate the modern ‘Western’ diet. Our organic superfoods come from ancient cultures around the world where they are traditionally used for both nutritional and medicinal purposes. Health conscious consumers choose our nutrient-dense superfoods because they’re a delicious and abundant source of antioxidants, protein, essential fats, and other key minerals and nutrients.
Q: What is your Green & eco-friendly approach of business?
A: Organic is at the core of everything we do.
Our company is committed to socially and environmentally responsible business practices. Our facility is Organic, Kosher and GMP/HACCP Certified. In addition, we utilize methods such as freeze-drying and low temperature processing to ensure maximum nutrition and safety. An essential part of our mission is to create economic opportunities among indigenous people in developing countries, and our support of native agriculture helps expand development of global organic farming practices. All our products, and our processing facility itself, are certified organic. We recently expanded, and incorporated many green design elements into the rebuild including energy efficient HVAC heating and cooling systems, natural lighting with solar shade blinds, energy efficient lighting and fixtures, low-flush toilets, non-VOC paints, and low VOC carpets. To save ink and trees, we no longer print our catalog, it’s on our website instead. Other every-day sustainable business practices include all paper, glass and plastics generated by operations recycled, and all promotional materials are printed on recycled or tree-free paper.
Q: Where can people in the San Francisco Bay Area Find you?
A: We are in 48 stores in San Francisco and over 100 in the Bay area, including Whole Foods Markets, Berkeley Bowl, and in Marin County at Paradise Foods.
Q: What are your best sellers?
A: Our best sellers are the raw cacao powder, goji berries, maca, acai and chia seed.
