Green Festival reaches out to Latino Community in Los Angeles

The Green Festival®, a project of Green America and Global Exchange, is coming to the Los Angeles Convention Center this Saturday and Sunday. The two day event celebrates what's working in communities across the nation and around the world - for people, business and the environment. According to event producers, the Green Festival® is like a walk through a sustainable community.

The Festival boasts more than 125 renowned authors, leaders and educators; how-to workshops; cutting-edge films; activities for kids; organic beer and wine; vegetarian cuisine and live music. There's a marketplace of more than 300 eco-friendly businesses -- everything from all-natural body care products and organic cotton clothing to Fair Trade gifts and kitchen tiles made from renewable resources.

At the Green Living Stage, attendees will hear from experts on how to reduce your carbon footprint with practical tips for everyday living and innovations that can be put to use today. This year, attendees will be able to hear presentations in Spanish from speakers like Alma Rivas of Mujeres de la Tierra.

Alma's presentation "Good for your Family, Good for Mother Earth" will include green cleaning tips in Spanish and English, like:

Using Baking Soda, White Vinegar and Water we will demonstrate how families can clean safely and economically using these products.  We will also encourage families to recycle their old cleaning spray bottles to make their own cleaning products.

For more information about Alma Rivas, you can read her bio on the Festival website.

At The Green Festival®, you'll see the most recent developments in renewable energy and green technology; sample Fair Trade chocolate, tea, coffee and oils; and learn how to invest in your community, green your home and avoid products made without consideration of the earth or its people.
