Green Day's 'Demolicious' tops Record Store Day charts; digital release May 19

The numbers are in for this year's Record Store Day and things are looking pretty good for Green Day. According to Billboard, “Demolicious” has topped their tastemaker's chart, which tracks top selling albums at independent record stores.

The album sold 4,000 copies according to Nielsen Soundscan. Broken down by format the sales were 42 percent CD, 42 percent vinyl, and 16 percent cassette. The website also reports the LP will be release digitally on May 19. So far the physical editions remain exclusive to Record Store Day.

Green Day released “Demolicious” an an exclusive for Record Store Day. In 2012, they released three albums entitled “¡Uno!” “¡Dos!” and “¡Tre!” Last year saw the release of “Broadway Idiot,” the story of bringing their chart topping LP “American Idiot” to the Broadway stage.
