Great news from the Grammy-winning punk band Green Day’s website as it was announced today that singer/guitar player Billie Joe Armstrong is doing better after his September onstage meltdown. The band also announced their 2013 tour dates which begin in March.
Back in September at the the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas, Green Day’s frontman Billie Joe Armstrong lost his cool, flipped off the camera, smashed his guitar, and began ranting profanities onstage saying that the band’s stage time was being cut short.
A few days later, a Green Day rep announced that Armstrong had checked into rehab for substance abuse. The band was forced to cancel the remainder of their 2012 concert dates.
“We want to thank everyone for hanging in with us for the last few months,” said the members of Green Day from their website. “We are very excited to hit the road and see all of you again ....”
Billie Joe Armstrong went on to say:
“Dear friends… I just want to thank you all for the love and support you’ve shown for the past few months. Believe me, it hasn’t gone unnoticed and I’m eternally grateful to have such an amazing set of friends and family. I’m getting better everyday. So now, without further ado, the show must go on. We can’t wait to get on the road and live out load! Our passion has only grown stronger.”
Green Day released their most recent album, "Tre," earlier this month.
