Green Day will be back on the road in 2013.
According to a press release posted today at the band’s official website, the multi-Grammy winning punk-rockers have confirmed a string of newly announced east coast and mid-west dates in the U.S. and Canada, slated for March and April.
Having recently postponed a road trip that was to begin in January, the band will kick off the latest run on March 28 in Chicago, Ill. at Allstate Arena and wrap up on April 12 in Quebec City, Quebec at Colisee Pepsi.
The “Boulevard of Broken Dreams" hitmakers will also make a Canadian stop on April 11 in Toronto at Air Canada Centre.
The two Canadian stops are rescheduled dates from tentative January gigs that were postponed.
Tickets for the postponed January shows will be honored at these new dates and refunds are available at point of purchase.
Headed by frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, who recently completed a stint in rehab, following a meltdown onstage at September’s iHeart Radio Festival in Las Vegas, the band canceled a series of club dates scheduled for the fall, an appearance at New Orleans’ Voodoo Festival and postponed a tour that was to begin next month in Green Bay, Wis.
The press release includes a message from Armstrong, which says, “Dear friends … I just want to thank you all for the love and support you’ve shown for the past few months. Believe me, it hasn’t gone unnoticed and I’m eternally grateful to have such an amazing set of friends and family. I’m getting better every day. So now, without further ado, the show must go on.”
