GREEN CELEBRITY RYAN GOSLING, STAR OF "THE NOTEBOOK"

Celebrities from all over the world are going green, but more live and work in Hollywood than any other entertainment scene. Here are the eco facts about young Ryan Gosling, one ecoceleb who is notorious for using his star power to advocate for political causes, healthy and humane living, and is encouraging the world to go green by living his life in a way that is eco-friendly.

Excerpts about Hollywood celebrity Ryan Gosling from Forbes magazine:

Green fact about ecoceleb: Gosling is one of the few celebrities who doesn't just stash his hybrid in the corner of a garage. In fact, he's been spotted driving his Prius all over Los Angeles--for everything from errands at a local pharmacy to dinner out at a Thai restaurant. Gosling even used to give a lift to a GQ staff writer who profiled him in 2007. According to that reporter's account, Gosling cranked up the volume on the classic rock radio station and sped through a yellow light during the eco-efficient ride.

History of fighting for a cause: Ever since the studly young star of The Notebook shot part of a documentary in Africa, he has spoken out against conditions in Darfur--and even visited refugee camps there.

Green celebrity interview: "It's a great thing about this job, that you have the luxury to go to places like this and have access to people who have made this their life's work," Gosling said in a 2007 interview published on JoBlo.com. "I get to learn from them and spend time with them, and I'm given a platform to talk about those experiences."

Go Hollywood: In 2007, he sported a special pin at the Oscars to show support for Amnesty International's campaign for a more humane diamond trade. Gosling has also supported the ONE Campaign's anti-poverty efforts and protested the way Kentucky Fried Chicken treats animals.
