Green Celebrities: Bull fight bad news for Matt Damon

Matt Damon is well known as a green celebrity for his outspoken political views that lean toward the side of being liberal, for his work with humanitarian organization Charity Water and even for being spotted driving a Tesla Roadster... but his good deeds are not helping him much in the eyes of animal rights activists. Damon was spotted attending a bull fight while in Mexico -- and not the Dancing With The Stars Paso Doble kind. His choice of spectator sports has not made him any friends in the non-profit organization PETA.

Ecorazzi picked up the bad news from a UK tabloid and decided to stir the pot by reporting, "According to the Daily Mail, Damon attended a bullfight at La Monumental bullring stadium in Mexico City with friends. Photos and sources indicate he wasn’t too into what was happening in the ring, yawning and talking to friends but applauding the fight at times."

According to the eco-friendly and pet-friendly website, "Animal organizations will likely still find his choice of event appalling, including PETA which calls bullfighting “a tradition of tragedy”.

PETA says “Each year, approximately 250,000 bulls die in bullfights," which they claim are, "an inaccurate term for events in which there is very little competition between a nimble, sword-wielding matador (Spanish for ‘killer’) and a confused, maimed, psychologically tormented, and physically debilitated animal.”

His new film titled We Bought A Zoo has been drawing criticism for he and co-star Scarlett Johannson from animal rights activists as well. They claim zoos are inappropriate habitats for wildlife and have even voiced some concerns about live animal treatment on set while the pair is filming. However, folks who don't lean super left seem to think the new Matt Damon movie is likely to earn him an Oscar nomination -- even if the PETA people don't like him.

Why?

Because Hollywood is going green -- and all the powers that be seem to like and recognize that Matt Damon is, above all else, a humanitarian. He's not an animal rights activist, a vegetarian, or a vegan. He's just a manly man and boy from Boston who votes liberal, might have political aspirations to someday run for president, and has enormous talent.

It's too bad the Adjustment Bureau does not really exist right now. It would have been nice to see him pass on the bull fight attendance.
