Green Cedar recalls two types of cheese due to confirmed Listeria

Green Cedar, a Dearborn, Michigan-based company has issued recalls on two types of cheese sold in stores and restaurants throughout Michigan. The Michigan Department of Agriculture and the Rural Development Laboratory confirmed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in the following types of cheeses:

  • All Natural Chives Cheese
  • All Natural Ackawi Cheese

The FDA has a webpage providing details for these recalls:

Listeria may cause high-fever, G.I. upset, headaches, stiff neck and possibly death. Those at highest risk for severe symptoms include babies, pregnant and nursing women, the elderly and those with already compromised immune function. Seek medical attention immediately if you experience any of these symptoms after ingesting the above listed cheeses.

If you have these particular types of cheese, return to the store where purchased.
