Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews has been fined $15,000 by the NFL for a late hit on superstar quarterback Colin Kaepernick. The news of the fine was handed down Friday afternoon on September 13 after Matthews claimed he was not a dirty player. This was reported by CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora
Normally, late hits are one thing, but Clay Matthews flew through the air while Kaepernick was out of bounds. Then he grabbed him by the shoulders and threw him down. It was a ridiculous attempt at trying to be physical last Sunday. It's also a highlight that displays his athleticism.
To show how out of control Matthews was in the moment, he threw a punch at a protective Joe Staley and then he slapped Staley in the facemask. At first glance, it looked like Matthews was going to be ejected from the game.
However, the refs got discombobulated and called offsetting penalties.
It’s obvious that Clay is one of the most amazing players in the league. He even recognizes his greatness by stating “I’m an awesome player. I’m not a dirty player.” The real next question for Matthews and his teammates is can they be ready to take on the Washington Redskins?
