Even professional cheerleaders can be victims of bullying. According to a Feb. 7 Yahoo! Sports report, a former Green Bay Packers cheerleader took a stand against cyber bullies on Facebok this week.
A Chicago Bears Facebook fan page posted a photo of Kaitlyn Collins in her Packers uniform Monday evening. It said, “Like If You Agree The Packers Have The Worst Cheerleaders In The NFL!”
The rivalry between the two teams runs deep and it didn’t take long for the post to have over 86,000 likes. It also had hundreds of negative and just plain mean comments about Kaitlyn’s appearance.
Facebook refused to remove the post, stating it didn’t meet their requirements for cyber bullying. So Collins, who cheered for Green Bay when she was in college, responded with her own video message. Kaitlyn, through hand written signs, even addressed some of the individual comments and those who posted them by name.
Collins did the same for the commenters who defended and supported her, thanking those Bears fans. She even more orange in blue in the video in their honor.
Kaitlyn said she has an amazing support system of friends and family telling her she’s beautiful and helping her through this attack. She asked,
“What about the people who don’t have that at home? What will happen when something like this happens to them?”
The former cheerleader urged the world to stop cyber bullying and all bullying.
