Green Acres: Mary Grace Canfield dies at 89

Green Acres” television show’s actress, Mary Grace Canfield has died at 89 years of age, according to a Detroit News article on Tuesday.

Mary Grace Canfield was a veteran character actress who was best known for playing the character of Ralph Monroe – a handywoman – on the popular “Green Acres” program. She appeared in approximately 40 episodes of “Green Acres” which was aired from 1965 to 1971.

Her character on the show was memorable as she appeared in painters’ overalls, greeting the town’s folks on the series with a friendly “howdy dowdy.”

Canfield died of lung cancer on Saturday at a hospice facility in Santa Barbara, California, according to her daughter Phoebe Pleiades.

Among Canfield’s other performances were appearances on “Bewitched” in the 1960s in which she played the character of Harriet Kraits for four episodes of that popular television program. She also appeared on “The Hathaway’s” and “General Hospital” during her approximately 40-year career in acting.
