If you plan to spend Thanksgiving Day in the Big City, a Grecian inspired meal at Molyvos may be the go-to place for Thanksgiving dinner. Chef partner, Jim Botsacos has created a detectible menu for this year’s feast.
A rich butternut squash soup prepared with thyme, honey and whipped yogurt will be served with rice sausage and chestnut stuffing. A slow roasted Turkey a La Grecque, followed by a slice of galaktoboureko (semolina custard wrapped in phyllo, bathed in citrus syrup,) to complete your meal. (Call for reservation and pricing.)
Molyvos restaurant is located at 871 Seventh Avenue in New York, just one block south of Carnegie Hall and City Center. Americans have been returning to this Grecian haven since it first opened its doors in 1997.
Just a few short months after they opened, the New York Times awarded Molyvos with three stars. Esquire Magazine's restaurant reviewer, John Mariani named Molyvos among the "Best in America,” a few months later. New York magazine added Molyvos to its New York restaurant list for the "Best of 1999," and Time Out New York featured the establishment in its list of "NY's Top 100" for 2000.
For a fine representation of Greek culture and cuisine, this may be the closest you can get to Greece in New York City.
