A student in Sharon Duffy's American Sign Language class at Greece Olympia took a picture of the teacher using vulgar and sexually explicit language during class and posted it to her Facebook page. The same photo was then shared on Tuesday on the Facebook page of radio hosts Kimberly and Beck of 98.9 The Buzz.

By Tuesday evening, the Greece Central School District superintendent Barbara Deane-Williams released a statement that the situation had been addressed and that Duffy had submitted her resignation. According to News10NBC, Williams' statement noted,

"As educators, we are advocates for students, their safety and achievement and can expect to be held to high standards of conduct at all times. We thank those who brought this troubling matter to our attention. Anyone with concerns related to staff or students is encouraged to report them so they can be addressed immediately."

News10's Lynette Adams went to Duffy's home yesterday evening for a statement, but was turned away. Emails sent to Duffy also did not receive a response.

According to News10NBC, as of yesterday the parent of the student is scheduled to meet with Williams today to discuss the matter.
