Greatest matches in Wrestle Mania history: No. 45

Over the next few months, I will run through the Top 50 matches in Wrestle Mania history (in my humble opinion) as the 29th edition of the event takes place on Apr. 7, live from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Today, we look at the match that comes in at No. 45

#45, WWE Champion Macho Man Randy Savage vs. Hulk Hogan—Wrestle Mania 5 (1989)—Atlantic City, New Jersey

(Ranked the best match from Wrestle Mania 5)

A match that was almost one year in the making as Hulk Hogan kept Andre the Giant at bay so Randy Savage could defeat Ted DiBiase to win the vacant WWE Championship at Wrestle Mania 4. Savage teamed throughout 1988 with dissension building month after month (thanks in part to Miss Elizabeth). After Savage, turned heel, the stage was set for this big main event. Savage looked to have Hogan beat a few times but in the The Hulkster came through, winning his second WWE Championship.
