Over the next few months, I will run through the Top 50 matches in Wrestle Mania history (in my humble opinion) as the 29th edition of the event takes place on Apr. 7, live from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Today, we look at the match that comes in at No. 42
(Ranked the third best match from Wrestle Mania 23)
This match was built up with the two teaming in the weeks leading up to Wrestle Mania and even winning the Tag Team Championship together (and losing them the night after ‘Mania). Being their live, the buzz in the stadium was that HBK would win, giving him one last run with the gold. Michaels was Michaels while Cena (who has gotten better in the ring since in my eyes) worked hard as well, playing the role of the underdog for most of the bout. In the end, HBK taps out to the STFU, sending most fans at Ford Field home a bit bummed out and Cena home with the WWE Championship.
