Over the next few months, I will run through the Top 50 matches in Wrestle Mania history (in my humble opinion) as the 29th edition of the event takes place on Apr. 7, live from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Today, we look at the match that comes in at No. 40
(Ranked the second best match from Wrestle Mania 27)
I really enjoyed this feud as Punk played the classic heel as the leader of the New Nexus while Orton fit the face/tweener role. The back story was Punk trying to seek revenge for Orton costing him the World Heavyweight Championship back in 2008. The crowd was really behind Orton here and stayed invested in the match throughout. After a number of near falls and some nice spots, Orton caught Punk jumping off the top rope for a sick RKO to pick up the win.
