Over the next few months, I will run through the Top 50 matches in Wrestle Mania history (in my humble opinion) as the 29th edition of the event takes place on Apr. 7, live from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Today, we look at the match that comes in at No. 36
#36, WWE Champion Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar—Wrestle Mania 19 (2003)—Seattle, Washington
(Ranked the fourth best match from Wrestle Mania 19)
Angle’s reign as champion was very well done up to this point while Lesnar was coming off winning the Royal Rumble a few months prior. While their rematch at the 2003 Summer Slam was better in my opinion, this match was very enjoyable with Angle showing why he is one of the best in ring performers of all time. Even after a botched shooting star, Lesnar (who was legitimately knocked silly) recovered for the pin fall win, claiming the WWE Championship.
