We have made it into the final five matches in our countdown of the Top 50 matches in Wrestle Mania history (in my humble opinion) as the 29th edition of the event takes place on Apr. 7, live from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Today, we look at the match that comes in at No. 2.
#2, Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker—Wrestle Mania 25 (2009)—Houston, Texas
(Ranked the best match from Wrestle Mania 25)
This match had been teased for years as ‘Taker and HBK were the last two combatants in the 2007 Royal Rumble and had been in the ring together in tag team matches and the 2008 Royal Rumble. At Wrestle Mania 25, these two men put on nearly a flawless match with a high work rate and top notch drama. There were a number of times it seemed ‘Taker’s streak was about to end. The end of the bout came when HBK tried a moonsault from the top rope but ‘Taker countered and caught Michaels , delivering a Tombstone Piledriver for the win. I’ll go on record to say that if I was trying to convince a non-wrestling fan to watch just one match, this would be right at the top of the list.
