Matt Hardy made his return to WWE during this match, taking out MVP. This was a very entertaining bout, with Shelton Benjamin taking the biggest risks. In the end, CM Punk was the first to the briefcase, winning his first of two MITB crowns. A few months later, Punk would cash in the MITB contract, defeating Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship after Edge was laid out by Batista.
