Over the next few months, I will run through the Top 50 matches in Wrestle Mania history (in my humble opinion) as the 29th edition of the event takes place on Apr. 7, live from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Today, we look at the match that comes in at No. 22.
#22, The Rock vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin —Wrestle Mania 19 (2003)—Seattle, Washington
(Ranked the second best match from Wrestle Mania 19)
This match still stands as the last in the career of Stone Cold Steve Austin. Austin spent some time in the hospital the day before this bout but still performed at a high level. Meanwhile, The Rock was portraying a perfect heel leading up this match, claiming all he had left to do in his career is beat Stone Cold at Wrestle Mania. A nice mix of brawling and storytelling as one of the biggest rivalries in WWE history came to a close. Rock picks up the win, leading to his match with Bill Goldberg a month later.
