Over the next few months, I will run through the Top 50 matches in Wrestle Mania history (in my humble opinion) as the 29th edition of the event takes place on Apr. 7, live from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Today, we look at the match that comes in at No. 21.
#21, Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit —Wrestle Mania 17 (2001)—Houston, Texas
(Ranked the third best match from Wrestle Mania 17)
Angle was coming off losing the WWE Championship to The Rock a month earlier while Benoit was fresh out of a feud with Chris Jericho over the Intercontinental Championship. This was a classic wrestling match where both men pulled out all the stops. In the end, Angle rolled up Benoit (with a handful of tights) to pick up the win. While this match was awesome, their 2003 Royal Rumble bout for the WWE Championship may have actually been a little bit better.
