Over the next few months, I will run through the Top 50 matches in Wrestle Mania history (in my humble opinion) as the 29th edition of the event takes place on Apr. 7, live from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Today, we look at the match that comes in at No. 17.
#17, WWE Champion Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant—Wrestle Mania 3 (1987)—Detroit, Michigan
(Ranked the second best match from Wrestle Mania 3)
There may not be a better known pro wrestling match than Hogan vs. Andre at Wrestle Mania 3. Hogan was at his prime of popularity while Andre was ‘undefeated’ for 15 years. Andre seemed to have the match won in the first minute but Hogan rallied and body slammed the giant en route to retaining the WWE Championship. Not a five star bout but easily one of the top five most important matches in the history of WWE.
