Over the next few months, I will run through the Top 50 matches in Wrestle Mania history (in my humble opinion) as the 29th edition of the event takes place on Apr. 7, live from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Today, we look at the match that comes in at No. 10.
#10, Intercontinental Champion Razor Ramon vs. Shawn Michaels in a Ladder match—Wrestle Mania 10 (1994)—New York, New York
(Ranked the best match from Wrestle Mania 10)
While there has been better ladder matches since, this match put this type of bout on the map. In addition, this match was the start of Shawn Michaels’ rise to becoming arguably the best in ring worker of the modern era. As much praise as HBK gets for this match (deservedly so), Razor (Scott Hall) put forth a very strong effort as well. In the end, Razor retrieved the title belts (his and HBK’s ‘bogus’ belt) to officially retain the gold. The two would have a ladder match rematch a year and a half later at the 1995 Summer Slam in which HBK picked up the win.
